Herd of African elephants crossing shallow Delta Okavango
Home to thriving riverbanks, salt pans and grassland, not to mention the largest population of elephants in the whole of Africa, Botswana holidays provide a host of unforgettable experiences. Comprised of both vast deserts and leafy rainforests, travellers will be at one with Botswana's unique, unspoilt wild landscapes and all they have to offer, from serenity and isolation to active, thrilling safari adventures. Botswana offers everything from the mesmerising Okavango Delta to thrilling wildlife safaris in Central Kalahari Game Reserve (the second largest wildlife reserve in the whole world), all bathed in glorious, year-round sunshine.
Culture and history buffs will revel in the sights at Tsodilo Hills (a World Heritage Site, located in the desert), home to one of the world’s largest concentrations of ancient rock art, created as long as 24,000 years ago. Botswana’s oldest and perhaps most remarkable national park – Chobe National Park – will simply astound you too; its diverse range of wildlife makes it a prime location for game viewing. Here, travellers can watch hippopotamus, lion, cheetah, buffalo, impala and zebra (to name a few) grazing across the park’s expansive landscapes. Alternatively, venture on an African Horseback Safari at Macatoo Camp, watch wildlife at Gaborone Game Reserve, or hike up the iconic Kgale Hill.
Head to Kubu Island – a desolate yet idyllic island situated in the remarkable Makgadikgadi Pan area of Botswana – for a camping adventure like no other.
