Arusha National Park Day Safari

This “mountain park” is not far from the city of Arusha and although small, it has plenty to offer you on this day trip. There is plenty of wildlife to be seen as well as breath-taking scenery and landscapes. Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second highest peak is the centre point of the park and it overshadows the noticeably different coloured alkaline Momela Lakes. To the East of the park lies the fourteen-million-year-old and 2mile wide Ngurdoto Crater which you will also visit on this day of adventure.

Once you have entered the park's gates enjoy your guided safari keeping your eyes open for wildlife such as buffalo, elephant, hippo, giraffe, warthogs, antelope, zebra, blue monkeys, baboons, leopard and hyena if you are lucky. Marvel at the different terrains ranging from open savannah through to acacia scrublands to Afro-montane cloud and rainforest and Afro-alpine vegetation which is very similar to that on Mount Kilimanjaro. There is an incredible variety of fauna and flora that the park has to offer. If you prefer to do some walking during the day, this is completely possible as is a canoeing safari on the Momella lakes.

When you feel that you need a break, stop somewhere scenic amongst the wildlife and enjoy your picnic lunch inside the park. In the late afternoon, once you have had your fill, depart the park and head back to your accommodation in Arusha.

Let's talk
After my first safari at 12 years old, I haven’t stopped going back to Africa. With diverse landscapes and the Indian Ocean on its doorstep, Tanzania has everything from giraffes to whale sharks. I’ll never forget watching a clan of hyena take on a lone buffalo in Ngorongoro Crater.
