Welgevonden Game Reserve
On the first day of this adventurous journey, you’ll be jetting off to Johannesburg for an overnight flight. Upon arrival at the OR Tambo international airport, you will be met a by a representative, and then taken to your family chalet at the Kololo Game Reserve. Once arrived, you’ll be free to settle in and relax into your comfortable bed for a peaceful night's sleep.
On day three, the kids will be super excited as the local rangers pick them up for a real safari experience! The Kololo ranger will guide the children on a bushveld expedition, as they learn all about nature in a fun and interactive way. They will be treated to exciting activities and receive a Bushveld Safari Book to leave lasting memories of this special, wildlife learning adventure.
Whilst the kids are being treated to this entertaining experience, you’ll be making your own fun. Lounge by the resort’s pool and take in the glorious South African sun or explore the other facilities. At around midday, the children will return, where you can all spend the remainder of the day at your own leisure.
On day four, wake up at your own pace, and make use of the facilities at this spectacular reserve. Take in the lush green grass from your private veranda, and if you’re lucky enough you may even see kudu or impala quietly grazing, totally unaware of your presence. An afternoon game drive with the entire family is scheduled to depart between 15:00-16:00. Here, you can learn all about the native wildlife on your open game drive vehicle as you’re introduced to the bush, savannah, and Kololo mountains. You should also be able to spot the kudus giraffes, hartebeest, wildebeest and warthogs.
You’ll move on from the bush to the thriving city of Cape Town, where you’ll be transferred to your room at the award-winning Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa. Spend the rest of this day, and the next doing whatever your heart desires, but for the parents, it’s well worth checking out the hotel spa, where you can treat yourself to a signature treatment. From ‘The Mountain Serenade’ to 'The Apostles Touch’, you’ll be transported to a world of heavenly bliss. A professional child-minder is available to take care of the children while you enjoy some relaxation time.
Start day seven with a scrumptious breakfast at the hotel and take a trip to the V&A Waterfront, then transfer to the verdant Cape Winelands. For an extra special event, you can take them to a child-friendly wine estate, such as Spier Wine Farm, where children's grape juice and chocolate testing are on offer! In the evening, check out the hotel 16-seater cinema for a family-friendly movie.
On your second to last day, pack a picnic and head to the palm-fringed beach at Camps Bay for some serious rest and relaxation. You can also take a trip to Table Mountain, as you and the kids delight in travelling by cable car. Taking you to the summit in less than 5 minutes, the rotating floor of this ultra cool mode of transport will ensure that you get a 360-degree aerial view of the city.
On day nine, after a lovely breakfast at your hotel, it’s time to wave goodbye to this family adventure, but you’ll depart with fond memories of this wonderful trip.
