Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Wildlife + Activity & Adventure

After your morning flight, you'll arrive at your lodge in the impressively and, until recently, appropriately named Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in time for late lunch including a bottle of champagne. You'll have the afternoon at your leisure where you can relax from your long journey with one of the world’s most stunning views – Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is the highest lodge in Uganda, making for some unforgettable panoramic views.

You'll awake on Day 2 eager to learn more about your surroundings and, with your own personal butler for your stay, it'll be easy to ask any question you may have. After a delicious breakfast, you can walk from the lodge and explore the area properly – and find out where the "Gorilla" part of the resort's name comes from, as you trek to the Nkuringo trailhead to track these most enigmatic of animals. The evening can be spent on your private balcony, where views of the glowing red volcanoes make for a dramatic night-time scene. At this altitude, it can get chilly once the sun sets – but thankfully your room has its own fireplace to ward off the cold – and create a wonderfully romantic atmosphere.

Day 3 can begin by getting reacquainted with the gorillas, or by enjoying the lodge's facilities – including massage, beauty and other spa treatments, or partaking in the various activities which are offered by the lodge. Enjoy the fantastic food direct from the organic vegetable gardens on offer before heading back to your room. Spend the rest of your night near the cosy fireplace watching the stunning volcanic views.

4-7

Murchison Falls National Park

Wildlife

Awake to mixed emotions of reluctance to leave this spectacular place, and eagerness to get the next leg of your trip underway. You'll fly to Murchison Falls National Park where your visit takes on a new dimension. Your tranquil accommodation is Bakers Lodge and is situated on the south bank of the mighty Nile River – it boasts abundant birdlife, particularly along the river's edge. The sights are positively cinematic, with pods of elephants and hippos regularly seen from your own private deck; meanwhile the evening can be spent enjoying cocktails with this panoramic view affording some truly unforgettable sunsets.

You'll scarcely want to leave the luxury of your surroundings, but equally you won't want to miss out on once-in-a-lifetime experiences such as a cruise along the Nile to the base of the Murchinson Falls; a boat trip around the Nile Delta on Lake Albert; or even some take in some sport fishing. Equally the safari drives on the vast savannah are highly recommended, presenting an opportunity to see some extraordinary wildlife all in its natural habitat – likewise a drive to the nearby Budongo Forest to track wild chimpanzees is also available. There's even a chance to take to the skies in a hot air balloon (with a bush breakfast on landing). These are all certainly experiences to write home about – if you find the time between your adventures!

Whatever you choose to do on your stay, you can be sure that you will be returning to sheer luxury, with unforgettable sunset views and a gorgeous pool by which to relax. You'll want something to remember your trip by, so don't forget to poke your head in the lodge's curio shop boasting all manner of local crafts and collectibles.

8-12

Zanzibar

Beach

Reluctant as you may be to depart the marvellous Bakers Lodge and the stunning surroundings of Murchison Falls National Park, you'll awake on Day 8 excited for the next leg of your trip – the enigmatic and magical Zanzibar, a place which is as synonymous with exotic spices as it is paradise beaches. And what a beach you will discover… But first, a safari drive to the airstrip, and a flight across some stunning African countryside.

Before long you'll be back on terra firma and whisked away to your new home for the next few days: Kilindi Zanzibar. This beautiful five-star resort boasts individual pavilion huts, each with its own private view of the sparkling turquoise Indian Ocean. The buildings have a striking Scandinavian feel about them – the resort was designed for Benny Andersson of ABBA – but banish all thoughts of Ikea from your mind, as Kilindi is the epitome of luxury. Each villa has two private plunge pools that are linked by water features and a waterfall.

During your stay here, you'll be able to relax or enjoy a swim in the 24 metre infinity swimming pool, as well as embark on snorkelling adventure trips and various water sports. Spa treatments are available, as are fly fishing and deep-sea fishing excursions. Optional tours include trips around the local spice farms – for which Zanzibar is world-famous – walking tours of the local town, and a trip to the Jozani Forest, while a sunset cruise is one of the best ways to seal those magnificent memories of your African honeymoon.

On Day 12, your African adventure draws to a close as you depart for London, but your new adventure as a married couple is only just beginning – and you'll have kicked it off in unforgettable style, with a lifetime's worth of shared memories and stories to recount.
