Activity & Adventure + Cruise
Your holiday to Uganda begins with a flight from London to the town of Entebbe, which sits on the edge of Lake Victoria in central Uganda. Upon your arrival, after clearing customs and immigration, you will be met by a Primate Expeditions representative and transferred a short drive to your accommodation – the beautiful Guinea Fowl guesthouse. On arrival, after check in, you have the rest of your first day to slow the pace down in any manner you choose, whether you’d like to opt for a variety of massage treatments or perhaps enjoy a round of golf at the oldest golf course in East Africa nearby. It is entirely up to you. If golf is not your forte, it is well worth having either lunch or dinner at the clubhouse overlooking Lake Victoria before retiring to bed.
While in Entebbe, we recommend a relaxing stroll in the beautiful Botanical Gardens, established at the turn of the 20th century and, according to locals, the setting for the original Tarzan film. Keep your eyes peeled for beautiful flora, around 115 incredible bird species, monkeys and squirrels. As the sun begins to set, consider heading to the lake to explore it via cruise in the company of a knowledgeable guide. The cruise ends at Banga Beach where you can choose to enjoy a delicious fish and chip dinner with a view of Lake Victoria or head back to the Guinea Fowl for your final night in Entebbe.
Murchison Falls National Park
This morning, after a delicious breakfast, meet up with your guide and vehicle for a transfer to Murchison Falls National Park with a number of stops en route. Drive through Kampala, Ugandas capital city, emerging in the rural countryside filled with remote villages. The first stop is the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary offering you the opportunity to track these highly endangered and exquisite animals on foot. Once you have seen your fill of the Rhinos and other wildlife the Sanctuary has on offer, head to the Masindi Hotel for lunch. The restaurant of the hotel serves a delicious selection of local and international dishes whilst the bar offers some refreshing drinks. After lunch continue the last stretch and most scenic section of your transfer to the Murchison Falls National Park. Enter through the gate and enjoy a safari drive the length of the park, cross the river on a ferry to arrive at your accommodation, the Paraa Safari Lodge, on the banks of the famous Victoria Nile River. Settle into your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Wake up in the park and embark on a morning game drive on the northern bank of the river Nile. Look out for elephant, lion, buffalo, giraffe, hartebeest, oribi, bushbuck, reedbuck, hippos, crocodiles, spotted hyena and if lucky you might even spot a leopard. Once back in the lodge, enjoy a scrumptious lunch overlooking the river before taking a calm cruise upstream to the bottom of the spectacular Murchison Falls and onto the famous "Devil's Cauldron". This is where the river is compressed to squeeze through a 6-metre canyon dropping 40 metres with a thunderous roar. Cruise back to the lodge keeping a lookout through the papyrus reeds for the many bird species such as the Goliath Heron, Pelicans, Bee-Eaters, kingfishers, Hornbills, Cormorants and the rare highly sought after Shoebill Stork. After dinner retire to your room for a goodnights rest.
It's your last day in the park, and what you get up to is entirely up to you. Relax by the pool or on your private balcony overlooking the Nile River, alternatively head out on a morning or afternoon safari drive or explore the top of the falls on foot, an exhilarating experience.
On your final morning it is time to wave goodbye to this spectacular conservation area, before transferring to the nearby airstrip and flying to Entebbe to catch your international flight home. You'll probably be sad to leave, but we’re sure you'll have plenty of memories to cherish from this chilled and special trip.
