Holidays to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda

The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in southwest Uganda and promises a variety of beautiful views and unforgettable experiences. The misty hilltops and steamy forests below are a haven for a multitude of creatures, many of which you will probably have never seen before, even in the most heavily populated reserves.

The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to 120 different species of mammals, 348 species of birds, 27 species of frogs, chameleons and geckos, as well as 220 species of butterflies. It is also full of incredible flora, and is known for being one of the most diverse forests on the African continent. If you’d like to get a closer look at the trees and ferns for which the national park is celebrated, you can opt to go on a walk through the forest via one of the enthralling trail routes. There are four main trails to choose between including the 20-kilometre River Ivi trail which takes you to the Nkuringo village. The most popular trail is probably the waterfall trail, leading to a 33-metre waterfall on the Munyaga River. The remaining two trails are the Muzabijiro Loop and the Rushura Hill trail, which both feature stunning views of volcanoes and valleys. Regardless of the one you choose to venture down, you can expect plenty of spectacular sights that are sure to make every step worth it.

Of all the impressive animals that reside within the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the Bwindi gorillas are definitely the most famous. For those with a desire for adventure, it's possible to track these intelligent primates by purchasing a daily permit at the UWA office in Kampala. As long as you have a tracker in your party, you’re almost guaranteed to find the gorillas before the sun sets and, when you do, even if you've been on your feet for well over five hours, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime encounter that you certainly won’t forget in a hurry!
