Highlights

  • Infuse your mind with a dose of zen at this Buddhist inspired hotel
  • Learn about Chinese tea rituals at the hotel’s authentic tea house

This popular hotel in Chengdu has adopted the principles of the adjacent Wenshuyuan Monastery (it’s considered one of China’s most important). Despite its busy location on Wenshu Fang walking street, the hotel’s Buddhist approach gives it a calm and tranquil atmosphere, enhanced further by the light and bright décor.

The guestrooms are arranged over three storeys and although they are small, their high-ceilings give them a sense of spaciousness. With a traditional-yet-modern style, each room has polished wooden flooring and is furnished with silk cushions so you’re in for a relaxing stay. We especially like the suites that face into one of the hotel’s two courtyards.

The hotel’s authentic Tea House is worth a visit – it takes tea-drinking incredibly seriously, so go along prepared to learn a lot about tea rituals and be impressed by the range on offer. Likewise, the hotel’s vegetarian restaurant has an interesting menu of classic Buddhist dishes prepared from fresh local produce.

Given the philosophies of the hotel, the spa takes its role here particularly seriously. Indulge in a traditional massage, or spend some time unwinding in the sauna.
