Lijiang Day Tour

Spend a day with a private guide getting to know Lijiang and the surrounding area. Your day starts in the little mountain village of Shuhe. It’s a charming place and reputedly the earliest habitation of the Naxi ancestors. It is also a significant and well-preserved post of the Ancient Tea Horse Route.

Next, you’ll head slightly south and visit the main Lijiang Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s home to the Naxi people, known for their brightly coloured traditional clothing. Your guide will lead you around a network of little alleys, past Naxi houses and to the White Horse Dragon Pool in the south of the Old Town, revealing stories about this fascinating town as you go.

In the afternoon, you’ll travel out of Lijiang to the villages of Yuhu and Baisha, home to more Naxi people. These will likely be the quietest and least commercialised spots on your tour and you’ll have the opportunity to really soak up the peacefulness of the Naxi existence.

The sparkle of Southeast Asia really needs to be experienced first hand. My time living in Vietnam and exploring its neighbouring countries was incredibly special and I only wish that everyone could experience the incredible hospitality and sensory delights for themselves.
