Yide Hotel, Pingyao
- An authentic and well-preserved historic hotel in Pingyao
- Chinese furnishings and Kang style beds from the Qing and Ming dynasties
On a little side street in Pingyao, the Yide Hotel is found in an impressive eighteenth-century building – once the mansion home of a powerful local businessman and his family. It’s arranged around two courtyards and many original features like pillars, stone carvings and the courtyard walls have been remarkably well preserved and they are lit prettily at night with traditional Chinese red lanterns.
The rooms here are simple but spacious, with modern bathrooms, air conditioning and TVs but a distinctive Qing and Ming dynasty style décor with Kang beds, ornate wooden furniture, intricate Chinese artwork and crimson soft furnishings.
Staying at the Yide Hotel is an immersive Chinese experience, and there are traditional Chinese dishes on the restaurant’s menu. But you might be surprised to see western dishes are available too, should you be craving something familiar.
The main street, Nan Dajie, is just a few minutes’ walk away where you can browse local shops and sample some local delicacies.
