Holidays to Jakarta, Indonesia
The capital and largest city in Indonesia, Jakarta is fast-paced and contains a myriad of exciting things to see and do. Among expats, the city’s nickname is the Big Durian - a shock at first, but once you’ve gotten a taste, something you will wish to revisit again and again. Jakarta is home to beautiful green parks, cosmopolitan shopping, diverse cuisine, historical centres and exciting nightlife.
Off the main island are the Thousand Islands, some part of the Marine National Park, and the site of some spectacular diving spots. If you’d like a theme park day trip, the Ancol Dream Park on the coast features an ocean park, animal shows, great restaurants, a laser multimedia show, and is one of the biggest parks of its kind in Asia, or for something a little more sedate, the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah is a theme park which gives a beautiful overview of 30 provinces of Indonesia with samplings of more than 250 cultures.
In the city there are fantastic museums, historical heritage sites, and religious sites such as the Istiqual mosque, the largest mosque in Southeast Asia. Shopping is by far the biggest attraction to this magnificent city, there are shopping malls, markets, and the most distinctive, the particularly Jakartan side street stalls, selling everything imaginable.
