Holidays to Labuan Bajo, Flores

Most often seen as simply the launch point for visiting the Komodo National Park, Laban Bajo is an idyllic harbour town blessed with stunning views of the archipelago, beautiful beaches, and mesmerising sunsets. The main street of Labuan Bajo presents all the little luxuries you could want, great restaurants and cafes, and is an excellent home base for exploring all the area has to offer.

Take a day tour to Komodo, or head to the nearby Kanawa and Seraya islands for fantastic diving and snorkelling, or see the nightly emergence of the flying fox bats at Kalong Island. If hiking is your thing, take the scenic jungle path through the Nature Conservation Forest up to Wae Rebo, the last remaining Manggaraian village with traditional houses. At 1,125 metres above sea level, the villagers live on their crops of coffee, taro, and vegetables, and live a tranquil lifestyle in harmony with their natural surroundings.

For a little romance, why not take a special someone for an evening stroll up the aptly named Love Hill, just a little outside of Labuan Bajo, to watch the spectacular sunset with a view that encompasses tropical forests, picturesque hills, and the scintillating Flores Sea.

Konawa Island, about ten kilometres offshore from LabuaBajo is the hottest spot to go for snorkelling. Surrounded by coral reefs teeming with thousands of fish, turtles, reef sharks, and manta rays, the island itself offers a bungalow resort with a fresh seafood restaurant and beach cinema for guests to rest and relax after visiting the fishes.
