View of Rinjani, Lombok
Holidays to Lombok, Indonesia
Along the spectacular southern coastline of Lombok, a vast array of bays, reefs, and rocky inlets provide what has been the island’s biggest tourist draw, the varied, pumping waves that keep surfers coming back for more at the swell’s peak between November and March. But Lombok is more than a surfer’s paradise, this picturesque island offers trekking through its jungle-clad interior, and for the keen angler, an exciting number of fishing spots teeming with life.
Indonesia’s second highest volcano, Gunung Rinjani is the crowning glory of the island, and climbing to its stunning lake-topped peak in a multi-day trek through verdant unspoiled jungles is a highlight of exploring the island.
A little more subdued is the scenic coastal road, winding through the gorgeous countryside north of Senggigi, and unfolding incredible coastal vistas and views of the inland alike.
There are many similarities between Lombok and neighbouring Bali, but where Bali can be busy and a popular tourist spot, Lombok is quiet, and gives you a real sense of forging new paths and discovering sights that no-one has seen before.
