Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo

Whether you’re indulging your inner child or have a brood of your own, Tokyo Disneyland is the place to be. It’s modelled after the California version but also boasts a totally original theme park – DisneySea – which targets a more grownup crowd. Here you’ll find seven ports inspired by both real and imagined bodies of water, as well as plenty of attractions to keep the whole family entertained. As you can imagine, both Disneyland and DisneySea get incredibly busy and even more so on weekends and during holidays, so it’s worth planning your visit before you arrive.

There are plenty of attractions – such as Splash Mountain – which are very similar to the US version, so if you’ve been to both you might want to prioritise new attractions such as those at DisneySea. Crowds tend to peak in the middle of the afternoon so take a break from hitting the rides and catch one of the park’s shows such as Country Bear Jamboree.

When the sun starts to set consider catching the Western River Railroad or the Mark Twain Riverboat - or why not both? They are both gorgeous settings to watch dusk fall and the riverboat ride in the dark is great fun. When night falls you’ll want to catch the Cinderella Castle projection show – don’t worry about getting a spot early as guests in the front have to sit down and there is strict no children on shoulders rule, so visibility is rarely an issue. And when dinnertime strikes? Alice in Wonderland fans will be in their element in the stunning Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall.

Let's talk
One of the things I love most about Japan is that it is a country of contrasts. From the vibrant, modern cities bustling with life to the tranquil countryside, interspersed with traditional villages and soothing landscapes. Also, let’s not forget the incredible Japanese cuisine. No matter where you go, the food is delicious! There are so many things that keep me coming back time and time again.
