We've coupled your Laos honeymoon with a few days in Northern Thailand. You'll start in Chiang Mai where you'll wander around beautiful temples, before cruising across the border to Laos. In Laos, you'll start in Pakbeng and gradually make your way down to Vientiane

Itinerary

This exciting trip to Thailand and Laos includes international flights, transfers, accommodation, a bottle of champagne upon arrival, some meals plus lunch with a local family, a romantic dinner at L´Adresse de Tinay, and selected excursions. 

From the first conversation until you arrive home from your holiday, you’ll be looked after by one of our Travel Designers who has travelled extensively in the region and will give advice from their personal experience on how to make the most out of your trip.

Chiang Mai

The day for your wanderlust-fuelled honeymoon has come at last – hurrah! You’ll fly into Thailand’s second largest city, Chiang Mai, where you’ll be met by a guide and transferred to your hotel. You’ll kick off the celebration with a bottle of champagne on us!

Spend your time in the city exploring ancient Buddhist temples, lively markets and learning the secrets behind Thailand’s famous dishes. You’ll also enjoy a cocktail before dining on Northern Thai food at an open-air restaurant with glorious views. Later you’ll head to a village where you’ll trek through the community forest and enjoy a lunch with your host family before exploring jungle life by zipline!

Doi Angkhang

Mountain town

After an exhilarating few days in Chiang Mai you’ll head to the peaceful mountain town of Doi Angkhang where you’ll visit the Royal Project. You’ll learn all about this research project and how it helps support hill tribes by developing non-native crops for them to grow instead of opium poppies. Explore the vegetable garden, rose greenhouse and be sure to indulge in the tea-tasting area.

Chiang Rai & the Golden Triangle

City

After a hotel breakfast you’re off to Chiang Rai, the sleepy sister city of Chiang Mai. You’ll kick-start your stay here by touring the city by three-wheeled rickshaw - a traditional way to soak up the city’s quieter sights and sounds. You’ll visit an ancient monument and temple, browse a produce market and explore a hilltribe museum to gain insight into the fascinating local communities. From the city you’ll head out to Elephant Valley - Chiang Rai's first Elephant Sanctuary – where you'll walk with elephants in their natural habitat and possibly even feed them. On your last day you’ll explore the Golden Triangle, so called as it’s where the borders of Laos, Thailand and Myanmar meet.

Pakbeng

Cruise

It’s time to bid farewell to Thailand and head to Laos! You’ll leave the hotel for the Thai border before hopping aboard a cruise down the Mekong River to Pakbeng. Along your scenic cruise you’ll pass traditional stilt houses and stop to visit riverside villages and enjoy a Laos style buffet lunch. In the evening you’ll arrive at Pakbeng where you’ll check into your hotel and enjoy a Laotian dinner on an open air terrace overlooking the Mekong river. The following day you’ll cruise your way down to Luang Prabang; along the way you’ll stop off at an ancient village and explore the Pak Ou caves which contain thousands of Buddhist images. You’ll finish up at Luang Prabang where a guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel for check in.

Luang Prabang

Historical City

You’ll wake up in what was once the royal capital of Laos, Luang Prabang, which has since been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll start off exploring this beautiful region by heading to Kuang Si waterfalls where you’ll enjoy a romantic champagne picnic lunch overlooking stunning views of the falls. You’ll also visit the Free the Bears sanctuary, watch the monks collecting the alms and enjoy a special dinner at Manda De Laos. There is also an optional guided tour of temples if you fancy a dose of more history.

Vang Vieng

Activity & Adventure

Today you’re headed south for Vang Vieng, a small town on the banks of the Nam Song River with spectacular limestone karst scenery. Once you’ve settled into your hotel you’ll enjoy a guided tour inside the nearby Tham Jang Cave where you’ll learn about local mythology, spot stalactites and stalagmites and swim in the natural spring water. The next day you’ll kayak along the Nam Song River revelling in the rural scenery, exploring limestone caves and swimming in fresh spring water. You’ll finish your stay with dinner and glass of wine back at your hotel.

Vientiane

Capital City

Today you’re heading to the capital. Vientiane is the largest city in Laos and is well known for its eclectic mix of French-colonial architecture and golden Buddhist temples. Get to know the city with a guided tour where you’ll see serene temples, climb monuments for stunning vistas and view the 16th century That Luang, the holiest site in Laos. On your last full day in the capital you’ll depart for a forest temple. Here you’ll meet with a resident monk who will be your teacher for the day, together you’ll discuss Buddhism and you’ll learn how to meditate. Afterwards visit the temple’s traditional sauna and chat with Lao nuns who manage it. You’ll finish off your time in Vientiane with a romantic dinner for two at one of the best French restaurants in town, L’Adresse de Tinay.
