You’ll start your adventure in Beijing where you have a chance to soak up the culture and prepare for an action-packed 17 days!

Your first stop is the Great Wall, where you will enjoy a 3-day hike. It’s the first of many, with Mount Huangshan and the Dragon’s Backbone awaiting you. Finally, you’ll be heading across to Hong Kong for another chance to tame the dragon as you walk along the famous Dragon’s Back and take in the incredible sea views. If you’re looking for an adventure, this is it!

This exciting trip to China includes international & internal flights, transfers, selected excursions, accommodation, and some breakfasts. 

From the first conversation until you arrive home from your holiday, you’ll be looked after by one of our Travel Designers who has travelled extensively in the region and will give advice from their personal experience on how to make the most out of your trip.

This is it. You wanted to experience it all and now it’s happening! Pack your extra memory cards, as you’ll be certainly be needing them, and board your overnight flight to Beijing. You’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel then it’s straight into the action with a walking tour of Beijing's ancient Hutong district.

On day 3 you will be immersing yourself in Beijing’s fascinating history at Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, then you’ll be heading up Jingshan Hill for incredible views from the top. Finish the evening with a traditional Peking Duck dinner and treat yourself to a cocktail at a fantastic rooftop bar – what a way to round off the first stop on your adventure!

The Great Wall of China

Activity & Adventure

It’s time to hit the road and head to the entrance point for your 3-day hike along the Great Wall. You’ll begin by walking the Gubeikou section towards the more remote, untouched section at Jinshanling, where you will spend the night at a simple but clean courtyard hotel. On day 5 you will be up early for one of the most spectacular sunrises you'll see. Yes, it's early, but definitely worth it! You’ll be continuing east towards Simatai, but first you’ll have lunch at Jinshanling, before driving to Wohushan for 2 hours of hiking. You’ll transfer to Xiahazi Village that evening where you will be welcomed by a local family, a truly unique experience next to the magnificent Great Wall.




On day 6 you will continue your trek along the wider Jiankou section of the Great Wall. After lunch at Mutianyu, it’s time to return to Beijing for a well-earned relaxing evening.

Places to Stay




Spend your morning at leisure pouring over the hundreds of photos you took of your hike along the Great Wall, then hop aboard the bullet train direct to Tunxi. You’ll have a free evening there and we’d recommend visiting the vibrant Tunxi Street for a traditional Chinese shopping experience.


Mount Huangshan


It’s off to the mountains on day 8. You’ll be heading to Mount Huangshan where you can enjoy phenomenal views from the cable car and walk up to the summit. You'll be staying high up in the mountains, giving you fantastic access to a range of walks around the mountain range.




This morning you'll be up early again for another stunning sunrise over the Yellow Mountains. As the sun rises and the clouds lift, it creates a unique atmosphere and a perfect photo opportunity. You'll then return to the bottom of the mountain on the cable car, before boarding your next first class bullet train to Hangzhou, one of China's famous imperial cities.

Having made yourself at home, you'll spend the afternoon relaxing and wandering around the impressive West Lake.



Activity & Adventure

Your final stop in mainland China will be spent in the southern province of Guangxi, and this morning you'll head to the airport for your flight to Guilin, one of the most picturesque cities in China. After a smooth transfer to the hotel, you'll have some time to yourselves to wander the city's beautiful lakes, or simply relax at the hotel and enjoy the facilities.




You’re hitting the breath-taking Li River on day 11 on a cruise to Yangshuo, passing limestone cliffs, small villages and grazing water buffalo. Enjoy lunch on board before transferring to your hotel then, in the afternoon, you’ll be visiting one of the area’s spectacular pinnacles for a taste of rock climbing. In the evening, you’ll watch the river spring to life during the dazzling Liu Sanjie light performance, created by the man who choreographed Beijing's 2008 Olympics Opening Ceremony.

The following day you will be hopping on a bicycle to enjoy a full-day cycling tour of Yangshuo's beautiful countryside.



Cruise + Activity & Adventure

Adventure is the name of the game, and today you will transfer to the rice terraces of Dazhai for the next stage of your journey. From here you will embark on a long trek to the village of Pingan, in Longji, stopping at the rice terrace viewing platforms to marvel at the captivating site of so many miles of green rice paddies on the way. You’ll get another opportunity to explore these beautiful rice terraces the next day as you walk along the Dragon's Backbone and wander through local villages before returning to Pingan for your overnight stay.


Hong Kong Island

Activity & Adventure + Beach

On day 15 you will catch a short flight to Hong Kong and enjoy a relaxed evening. Tomorrow, you will be tackling yet another dragon! You’ve walked across the Dragon’s Backbone and now it’s time to trek Hong Kong’s famous Dragon’s Back. You’ll spend the first part of the day in stunning forests making your way across well-signed trails and taking in panoramic sea-views at every turn. You’re free that afternoon, and also on your final day, to explore Hong Kong independently, or relax on the beaches of Stanley, leaving you just tired enough to close your eyes and dream of your grand adventure on your flight home that evening.
