Unveiling the Forgotten Villages
If you’re looking for something a little different, then this Undiscovered China trip is just the ticket! After spending your first night in Hong Kong, you’ll be heading towards the rice terraces at Longji. Then go off-the-beaten-track to see what local village life is really like, when you make your way through the smaller villages in the Guizhou province. There’s more incredible rice terraces to explore at Yuanyang, then it’s on to see the rare Giant panda in Chengdu.

You’ve arrived in Hong Kong! Spend a relaxing afternoon wandering the city, exploring hidden alleyways and trying wild and wonderful snacks from street vendors, then head back and tuck yourself in for a good night’s sleep, ready for the adventure to continue tomorrow.

You’re off to Guilin in the south of China, where you will be driven to the truly spectacular site of acres of stunning rice terraces at Longji. Soak up the views from your hotel balcony and be sure to capture as many photos as possible, particularly at sunrise and sunset for the best panoramas. On day 4 you will set off on a full day's walking tour through the rice fields, visiting local villages along the way and getting an inside glimpse into local cultures and traditions.
You’re heading to the province of Guizhou for a few days, where you’ll be exploring some of the lesser-visited villages. You’ll pass through Sanjiang, meaning three rivers, before making your way to Chengyang with its spectacular ‘wind and rain bridge’, so named for its shelter from the elements. Finally, you will see Zhaoxing, full of old wooden buildings that make for excellent photos.
On days 6 and 7 you’ll be seeing more of the countryside on foot, while walking through picturesque villages between Tangan and Zhaoxing. Then you will continue on to Rongjiang, stopping off at more minority villages along the way, including the Miao ethnic villages of Baiba and Bameng on day 8, famous for their unique instruments and dress.

It’s time to catch the high-speed train to Kunming for a leisurely afternoon wandering around Green Lake. You’ll also enjoy a day trip to the impressive Stone Forest today, which takes its name from its unique tree-like rows of rocks rising up from the earth.
Discover the old town at Jianshui, discovering the Old City Gate, Temple of Confucius, Seventeen Span Bridge and the Qing Dynasty mansion and gardens. A trip to Jianshui is like going back in time to ancient China, and it's a brilliant place to wander with your guide as you learn about the area's rich history.

You’re heading to Yuanyang, home to some of the most spectacular rice terraces in all of China. You'll spend the afternoon exploring the scenic area, marvelling at how the terraces form abstract patterns as they tumble down the hillside, then watching them change colour in the sunset.

Enjoy the stillness of the early morning air when you wake for a sunrise tour of the rice terraces, and take your final photos before catching a flight to Chengdu. On your final day, you'll join the privileged few that have seen a rare Giant Panda, when you visit them at the famous Giant Panda Research Base. Reflect on the experience during the afternoon at the People's Park, before treating your palate to a new experience, sampling wild and wonderful Chinese delicacies during a Lost Plate evening tuk-tuk food tour.
