Hanoi street eats walking tour

As the sun is setting, head out for a walking tour through Hanoi with your passionate food guide. Walk through the Old Quarter’s maze of hidden alleyways and back streets where you’ll find vendors lining the streets with their stalls.  Take in the sights, sounds and smells – this is a feast for all the senses! Then pull up a stool at one of Hanoi’s best pho shops. Slurp up a bowl of the steaming noodle soup while your guide gives you the lowdown on this national dish

Continue on the food trail to sample other local favourites. Try ‘banh cuon’, steamed rice paper stuffed with pork and mushrooms, and ‘nem chua ran’, fried spring rolls. If you’re still not full, sit down for a dinner of barbeque at a popular local shop. Wrap up your evening with a beer at a ‘bia hoi’¸ small shops selling draft beer. Sip on a cold beer while watching the vibrant night time street scenes, then return to your hotel for a good night’s sleep.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights it’s possible to include a visit to Hanoi’s bustling outdoor night market, which runs for around 3km through the Old Quarter.

The simple memory of eating a bowl of Pho whilst watching the sunset in Halong Bay is one of my fondest from my time living in Vietnam. The wonderful warm people, incredible nature and fantastic food of Vietnam will always keep me coming back.
