Sapa Villages Trek, Sapa

Today you will embark upon a 7 hour trek to visit the remote villages of Thanh Phu and My Son, both situated in Sapa valley. In the midst of rice terraces you’ll reach your destination by trekking along small paths and crossing the rice fields. After 2-3 hours you’ll arrive in Thanh Phu village, named after the tallest peak in the area, nestled at the foot of two mountain ranges. The village is inhabited by the Tay Ethnic group, the earliest known minority in Vietnam who are thought to have arrived from inland south-east Asia about 500 BC. Here you’ll have an early lunch and relax before continuing along the arrive to My Son.

My Son is home of the Xa Pho, one of the smallest minorities in Vietnam believed to have settled here from Malaysia and Indonesia. Their traditional clothes are embroidered with red, yellow and blue thread. From My Son you walk back on the road to Thanh Phu where you’ll be transported back to your hotel.

Please note: This tour is suitable for guests who want to visit several villages and different minorities, and are capable of walking for many hours on small trails. The experience is also possible to arrange with transport to Thanh Phu – just ask your Travel Designer for more details.

The simple memory of eating a bowl of Pho whilst watching the sunset in Halong Bay is one of my fondest from my time living in Vietnam. The wonderful warm people, incredible nature and fantastic food of Vietnam will always keep me coming back.
