I love spending my days barefoot or in flip flops, so laid-back Melbourne was the perfect place to live. My favourite adventure from my time living in Australia was the 3-month campervan road trip along the East Coast – full of sun, sea and scuba diving!

Activity and Adventure

Are you ready for your fabulous family holiday to Australia? It’s time to head down under! Once you arrive in the beautiful city of Sydney, you’ll be transferred to your hotel to settle in. During your time in the city, you'll stay in the Andina Apartments, where we'll reserve a two bedroom apartment with a fully equipped kitchen, allowing you full flexibility around mealtimes. The hotel's central location is close to Hyde Park and the ANZAC War Memorial, and George Street which runs right up to the Central Business District and Sydney Harbour. In the afternoon, head out for a one-hour tour of the Sydney Opera House. Over the course of an hour you’ll learn about its history, from its first beginnings to its iconic status. As you wander the impressive building, notice how the perfect acoustics make even footsteps sound like a drumbeat. What better introduction to the city.

The next day it’s off to Sydney Harbour Bridge to take in the wonderful views along the scenic 2.5km stretch of harbour-side cycling. Refuel with a gourmet sandwich picnic lunch before continuing your tour on a ride around some of the city’s best sights. In the evening you’ll head to Sydney Harbour to catch a majestic sunset before boarding the Sunset Dinner Cruise. Grownups will enjoy a glass of sparkling wine, but everyone will love the mezze sharer plate! Tuck into your choice of mains and desserts as you take in the captivating city views from the water.

On your last full day in Sydney, it’s only right that you head to the world-renowned Bondi Beach for a spot of surfing. The surfing scene in Australia is one of the best in the world, and when you chuck in big name riders and gnarly waves, well it doesn’t get much better than this! You’ll meet up with a local surf instructor and enjoy a half day surf or bodyboard lesson. Afterwards you can enjoy a surf lifesaving club tour and a beachside lunch with unforgettable views over Bondi.

Hamilton Island

Beach

Bid farewell to Sydney as today you’re off to Hamilton Island - one of the gorgeous Whitsunday Islands in Queensland. Close to the Great Barrier Reef, this largely car free island is covered in bushland and the coast is surrounded by coral reefs, making it a nature lovers dream. Once you arrive, you’ll be taken to your hotel to settle in. You'll stay at the Reef View Hotel in a Garden View Room with a balcony overlooking the pool and extensive gardens. The beach is just a short walk away, or choose to while away your time poolside. Spend your first day here as you please – take part in some fun games on Catseye Beach, challenge yourselves to a round of trivia or head off for a family adventure on foot on one of the island's beautiful walking trails. In the evening head out together and catch a Moonlight Movie or head to the marina for some live music.

The next day is spent exploring Whitehaven beach and its charming surroundings. Right in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef, as locations go, Whitehaven Beach is hard to beat. It’s 7km long and covered with 90% pure white silica, which gives it its unforgettable near luminescent colour.  And of course, a trip to Hamilton Island wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Great Barrier Reef and that is exactly what you’ll do next! Here you can snorkel with tropical fish and coral formations that don’t exist anywhere else on the planet. It’s safe to say, it’s an experience you and your family will remember forever.

Wrap up your time on Hamilton Island with a free day to spend together as you please.

10-12

Melbourne

City

Today it’s back to city life with a flight to Melbourne. Here, you'll stay in the Andina Apartments where you'll have a two bedroom apartment to yourself. You’ll get to know the city well on a full day tour, where you’ll explore the many arcades and laneways that are home to some of the city’s best bits. Together, uncover local designers and specialty retailers that are only found in this city, before hitting up the very best of Melbourne coffee culture at some of the city’s quirkiest cafes. You’ll also soak up street art and interesting architecture and enjoy historical tales along the way. You’ll finish your family trip with a free day in Melbourne together. Hop on a tram to St Kilda and check out the kid-friendly Adventure Playground. Alternatively, visit the RAAF museum and State Library of Victoria for a day of history and culture.

On day 12 wave goodbye to Australia, as you fly home from Melbourne.
