The city’s shoreline is best explored on two-wheels and following the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail around some of Anchorage’s scenic highlights. For more adventure, you don’t have to travel far out of the city centre to happen upon Alaska’s natural majesty. Take a day cruise from nearby Seward or Whittier to visit the glaciers, go whale watching, or head to the Chugach Mountains for a hike.
After days of adventure, one of the best ways to spend an evening around Anchorage is by going to one of the nearby viewing spots of Eklutna Tailrace or Girdwood to see the ethereal Northern Lights dancing in the night sky between September and April.
