Rio city tour with Corcovado Mountain, Rio de Janeiro

First time to Rio? Then get to know it properly on this half-day tour of the city hot spots.

You’ll start in Rio’s historical centre, exploring the city’s history. Spend a little time appreciating the Benedictine Monastery and marvel at the majesty of Praça XV de Novembro Square. This is also where you’ll catch a glimpse of the Vice-Roy’s Palace and Candelaria Church and see the neoclassic architecture of Casa França-Brasil. And when you step on to Rua do Mercado, you’ll wonder whether you’re in Rio at all…

Next up, it’s the Sambódromo – the location of Rio’s celebrated Carnaval before you’ll head skywards on the cog-wheel train on a 20-minute ascent to the city’s famous lookout on Corcovado Mountain, and the location of the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue. The views you get are as good as you’ve seen in the photos – a sprawling city tucked between mountains, forest and ocean.
