- Incredible diving and snorkelling
- Private pools
- Idyllic island setting
If you’re after a luxury romantic island escape, you’ve found it. On this tiny speck of an island in the Maldives you’ll find perfectly white sand, crystal clear marine rich seas and palm-fringed beaches. Yet despite its secluded vibe, it’s just a short 40-minute ride by speedboat from the nearest airport. Once on the island you’ll find the sands lined with an excellent selection of restaurants and a stunning glass-edged infinity pool perfect for enviable holiday snaps. And while the island is home to 100 villas, the clever designs and abundant lush foliage make you feel like you’re on your very own private adventure.
The style here is luxury barefoot island; think thatched roofs, luxurious yet timeless interiors and plenty of rustic timber. Having scooped the winner of Most Romantic Resort at the 2016 South Asia Travel Awards it’s fair to say Coco Bodhu Hithi has been built with couples in mind. Duos will find an enticing mix of intimate spaces and exhilarating experiences, making it the perfect retreat for those looking for romance and memories aplenty.
There are four types of villas and all come with a private pool. The Island Villa is the only type of land based accommodation while the other three – Water Villa, Escape Water Villa and Coco Residence – are all water based and some even have direct access to the water. Book the Coco Residence for the ultimate lavish getaway; we’re talking personal butler level of luxury here!
For even more indulgence head to the Coco Spa and book in for a super hydrating facial or restorative massage while you watch the sea and life stresses float away. Those who prefer their wellbeing with a side of exercise will enjoy the over-water gym or perhaps a yoga class out on the pavilion.
When it comes to exploring, it’s all about getting underwater here. Diving and snorkelling in these parts is exceptionally good thanks to the clear waters, coral caverns and rich marine life. The healthy House Reef here is home to all manner of creatures including reef fish, Hawksbill sea turtles, eagle rays, octopus and reef sharks. If you’d rather stay above water, try your hand at wakeboarding or canoeing. If all that sounds like too much hard work for a holiday, why not stop by the outdoor cinema or take part in a sunset cruise? A seaplane ride is always fun - and who could say no to a champagne breakfast?
Speaking of food, foodies are in for a treat here thanks to the six different restaurants on offer. In Air you’ll enjoy views of the infinity pool while you tuck into a selection of fusion cuisine. Aqua is atop the water and offers an elegant alfresco setting for tucking into freshly caught seafood. For modern classical cuisine with a Mediterranean twist head to the Stars Restaurant and Bar or for excellent Japanese fare head to Tsuki - the Wagyu beef is a must.
For drinks swing by Latitude, an excellent cocktail bar – go for the ‘Barabaru the best’ which is made with gold rum, honey, lime juice and orange juice. Wine aficionados are well catered to at the sophisticated Wine Loft – visit on their dinner experience night for an expertly paired menu. And if you’d rather enjoy dinner in total privacy you can arrange an in-villa dining experience.
When it comes to board packages, things are simple here. You can visit on a Half Board, Full Board, or All Inclusive basis; meal plans are buffet style and served in the main Air restaurant. While Coco Bodu Hithi welcomes guests of all ages there is no kids club, though babysitting is offered where available.
This is the ultimate destination for travellers looking for luxurious relaxation. With enviable white sand palm-fringed beaches and top-notch diving, Coco Bodu Hithi offers a paradise island setting without skimping on modern luxuries.Elizabeth, Senior Travel Designer
