Elephant in Chobe National Park, Botswana
Holidays to Kasane, Botswana
If you’re staying in Kasane you’ll love the range of comfortable woodland lodges with stunning views of this breath-taking landscape. Be sure to venture out at night to Riverside Bar at Chobe Safari Lodge which is located so close to the Chobe River it’s likely you’ll be drinking alongside crocodiles and hippos.
If you fancy popping to Zambia for the day, the Kazungula ferry is a few miles to the east and involves a short journey across the Zambezi River. An hour’s drive from here you’ll find the spectacular Victoria Falls which measures 108 metres or visit the impressive falls across the border in Zimbabwe.
From your Kasane base, you can also enjoy a day trip to the nearby Chobe National Park which is Botswana’s first and most biologically diverse national park. During the dry season that runs from April to October, Chobe National Park is renowned for the herds of migrating elephants that pass by as they cross the Chobe River. You’ll also find other popular game such as the rare puku and oribi antelopes, buffalo and giraffe, as well as over 440 recorded bird species.
Scenic boat trips and water sports are available along Chobe River, depending on how wet you’d like to get. Choose from leisurely fishing trips through to the more adventurous white-water rafting and canoeing. If you opt for a Chobe River cruise, be sure to head out in the late afternoon so as not to miss one of the most spectacular sunsets the region has to offer.
