Mokoro Canoe Safari

It’s a must do experience when in the Moremi National Park, so get your paddle at the ready as you set off in a canoe through the delta.

You will be travelling in a mokoro canoe – a dug-out canoe made from hardwood that was traditionally used by the Batswana people to navigate the channels of the delta. The canoe is propelled by a pole being pushed into the water, and you will glide through the water with all of the surrounding nature at the perfect eye height.

On this relaxing safari through the clear waterways, you will have the chance to spot birds and other wildlife – both big and small – close to the river banks. You will be able to get up to close to some of the smaller animals whilst observing from a distance some of the larger ones, such as hippos.

With the combination of animal sightings and travelling in one of the most peaceful ways possible, this will be a true highlight of your time in Botswana.

Let's talk
I grew up near the picturesque fishing village of Rye, in East Sussex. However, my heart has always been in Africa since I was a young girl. Having a South African father meant my love for the history and colour of this fantastic continent has been a prominent part of my life, and so getting to travel to seven different countries over the last few years has been a dream come true. One of my highlights was flying in the famous yellow bi-plane across Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya.
