Giraffe Experience, Nairobi

On collection from your hotel, transfer with your guide to the Giraffe Centre, located in the gardens of the famous Giraffe Manor hotel. On arrival, spend time with the giraffes and feed them by hand. If this is not close enough for you, get closer to these gorgeous animals by going up to the feeding platform where you can literally get close enough for a kiss.

At the Giraffe Centre visit and interact with ten endangered Rothschild Giraffes under the care of the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife. The centre provides a safe haven for breeding giraffes in captivity and the programme has seen over forty giraffes released into the Kenyan wilderness. This centre inspires children, youth and communities to co-operate with nature and conserve the environment for future generations.

Attend a lecture on Kenyan wildlife at the information centre after feeding the giraffes, or if you feel like a stroll through the sanctuary then head onto the nature trail. Take a wander or hike on the tranquil mile-long trail and see how many birds you can spot of the 150 species available. Keep your eyes peeled for animals including antelope and squirrels. The trail heads down to the Gogo River and up to a viewpoint with breath-taking views of Ngong Hills. Heading back to the tea house for a well-deserved refreshment pass by the warthog dens, keeping a lookout for them as you go by.

Before you depart visit the "Daisy Zoovenir Shop" where all proceeds go towards the conservation efforts. Once you have seen and done all that you wanted to, head back to your hotel with your guide and vehicle.

Let's talk
I really do think that Kenya is one of the most adventurous and fun safari destinations. Flying in a bi-plane over Lewa WIldlife Conservancy with a birds eye view of the giraffe and elephant below, I felt like I’d gone back in time to an older safari era.
