Found in the Waterberg Plateau, Welgevonden borders with Marakele National Park. The region's scenery ranges from broad rolling hills to magnificent red sandstone cliffs, open plains and savannah.
Welgevonden is home to over 50 different mammals, including the Big Five. The Reserve has one of the largest populations of white rhino as well as kudu, giraffe, zebra, cheetah, brown hyena and close to 300 bird species. The restricted number of vehicles allowed in the park allowing the visitors a particularly close and personal encounter. Historically, wildlife in the reserve has never been hunted which means the animals remain largely unphased by humans. If you are interested in history, you'll be fascinated to see the ancient and delicate Bushman rock art on Welgevonden.
