Holidays to Serengeti Ecosystem, Tanzania

Lush forests, endless grassy plains and a plethora of wildlife – let these be the backdrop to your African adventure. You can feel the force of nature running through every square inch of the Serengeti Ecosystem, and you’ll be captivated by the sheer beauty the area has to offer. Whether it’s on the vast ancient plains or under the star-studded indigo sky, this is a natural wonder like no other. The name Serengeti translates from the Maasai language as “infinite plains”. With so much to explore, you’ll want to take your time in this piece of paradise. The Serengeti Ecosystem spans from northern Tanzania to south-western Kenya, and its crown jewel is the Serengeti National Park. Spread over 14,000 square kilometres, this is where savannahs, woodlands, grassland plains and riverine forests are intertwined in Tanzania's oldest national park.

One of the best ways to explore the ecosystem in style is with a guided jeep tour. Most people are drawn here for the Great Migration, when scores of wildebeest, zebra and gazelles charge north in search of fresh food. However, you can spot other iconic African wildlife, with all of the Big Five found here including the largest number of lions in Africa, as well as waterbuck, impalas and cheetah – it's guaranteed to re-ignite your love for nature’s wonders.

For a real slice of Serengeti magic, there’s nothing quite like camping in the open air. With almost no artificial light in sight, it’s a perfect opportunity for stargazing and you’ll be amazed as the sky lights up to create one of the most spectacular scenes in the world.

If a little bit of luxury is more your cup of tea, peruse the park from the sky with a hot air balloon safari. This bird’s eye view gives you the chance to discover the park in a whole new light. You can see activities that aren't visible from the ground, and find animals that can be more difficult to track down from a jeep.

The Serengeti Ecosystem is one of the oldest, most complex and least disturbed ecosystems in the world, and it's a natural playground for people hungry for unique wildlife experiences and unforgettable adventure. Here, majestic African fauna roam unspoilt landscapes, creating an African safari you've always dreamed of. And so much more...

Let's talk
I grew up near the picturesque fishing village of Rye, in East Sussex. However, my heart has always been in Africa since I was a young girl. Having a South African father meant my love for the history and colour of this fantastic continent has been a prominent part of my life, and so getting to travel to seven different countries over the last few years has been a dream come true. One of my highlights was flying in the famous yellow bi-plane across Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya.
