Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum Tour, Phnom Penh
You’ll start with a visit to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, also known as S-21. Originally built as a school, the compound was taken over by the Khmer Rouge in 1975 and served as its largest centre of detention and torture. S-21 has now been turned into a museum and during your sobering tour of the site, your guide will tell you the stories behind the photographs that line its walls.
Continue on to the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek, the extermination camp and burial grounds of S-21 for around 17,000 men, women and children. The Memorial Stupa features more than 8000 skulls and is a harrowing reminder of the atrocities committed here.
