Dolphins swimming off the coast of Lovina
Holidays to Lovina, Indonesia
When Balinese author Anak Agung Panji Tisna built the first resort in this region, he called it Lovina, a play on the words ‘love’ and ‘Indonesia,’ and when you wander along the white-sand beaches, or soak in the hot springs, you will see why this moniker came to stand for this whole stretch of coastline.
Just ten kilometres from Lovina, the Brahmavihara-Arama, Bali’s largest Buddhist monastery is a spectacular sight; the sprawling complex features beautiful gardens, meditation rooms, libraries, and a stunning replica of the famous Buddhist landmark Borobudur.
The Banjar hot springs, are centuries old, featuring carved-stone dragon head waterspouts, and set among a verdant tropical garden - don’t worry, though the hot spring bathing pools are as they have been for centuries, the facilities nearby feature all the mod cons. Back at the beach, you can board a traditional jukung outrigger at dawn to watch dolphins frolicking under the sunrise.
Spend some time in Lovina, and it will always be in your heart.
