Overview

If you want to experience the best of island life – in luxurious surrounds – head to Zilwa Attitude on Mauritius's northernmost point. From the resort you’ll see islands dotted across the sea, enjoy easy access to plenty of authentic island experiences and you’re just a 20 minute drive away from the sandy paradise of Grand Baie Public Beach.

The hotel has been designed with the island in mind; think thatched roofs, Creole riddles adorning the walls and bright paintings by local artists. The new hotel has been cleverly designed with the central section dedicated to the resorts many restaurants and bars with the rooms and suites sprawling outwards, lending it an immediately familiar and intimate atmosphere.

And once you’re here? You could truly spend your entire holiday exploring the resort! Facilities including four pools, an open-air cinema and its very own PADI dive centre. You’ll also find an eco-friendly spa complete with herb garden. Here you could indulge in a private island double treatment, chill out in the hammam or cool down in the fountain of ice. The spa is centered on the natural elements of Mauritius with treatments tailored to each. Opt for Earth Attitude to rejuvenate, Sea Attitude to purify, Sun Attitude to stimulate the senses or Flora Attitude for the ultimate in relaxation.

Dining

When it’s time to dine, guests are in for a big choice – there are seven onsite restaurants! Choose from traditional Mauritian cuisine or opt for an intimate barbecue lunch on Gran Zil private island where you’ll enjoy delights such as octopus curry and cocktails from the bar made out of an ex-fishing boat. Those with dietary requirements will be pleased to find out they can be catered for, you’ll simply arrange a meeting with the chef on arrival to discuss your needs.

If food is your jam you might like to take part in a cookery class, or for an even more immersive experience you can head to a local's house and sample true local fare. Enjoy chowing down on delicacies such as fish curry, lentil soup and fresh mango. Whatever you choose, it’ll no doubt be washed down with the island’s favourite tipple - rum! To keep things simple the resort works on a 100% all-inclusive basis which includes a range of eating experiences, local beverages, snacks and picnic baskets, and a 20% discount on one Mauritian massage.

Rooms

The rooms at Zilwa are rustic chic with their textured walls, coconut fibre carpets and driftwood-inspired furniture. Much of the furnishings have been made by locals and the materials used all nod to the cultural heritage of the island. In each room you’ll find a pair of traditional Dodo flip-flops ready for you to explore the resort.

You can choose from a superior room – some with a sea view - a cosy room suitable for 2 adults and 1 child. For more space opt for a family room, suitable for 2 adults and 2 children or teenagers. A couple deluxe room would be perfect for newlyweds or romantic getaways and the family deluxe rooms are great for bigger families of up to 2 adults and 3 children. The resort has also been designed with accessibility in mind and there is one adapted room available.

Activities

When it comes to experiences, one of the highlights of Zilwa Attitude is access to the private island Grand Zil where you can swim in the sea, tuck into a BBQ or even host a wedding! Given the island nature of this resort, a lot of fun is to be had in or on the sea. You could go snorkelling in search of marine life, take a fun-fuelled catamaran excursion or go big game fishing.

For a cultural experience, head out on a dawn boat trip with a local fisherman and learn about local life as you soak up the early morning sunrise. Landlubbers are looked after here too; you could take a Creole lesson, try your hand at traditional games or enjoy a séga show. If you’re travelling with kids you’ve got to let them try the island treasure hunt. They’ll head off on an uninhabited island armed with a treasure map and a quest to locate the famous treasure. Now there’s a travel memory they’ll never forget!
