Vacations to Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana

Nestled on the eastern coast of the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana, Moremi Game Reserve is one of the world's best safari destinations, home to an array of African mammals and almost 500 species of birds. Accessible via a short flight from Maun or a four-hour road transfer, this wild and remote spot  attracts adventurous travelers from around the world in search of outstanding game viewing. Named after Chief Moremi of the BaTawana tribe, Moremi Game Reserve was originally formed to allow native tribes to live alongside its magnificent wildlife.

Suiting a range of different budgets, the reserve offers a variety of accommodation from public campsites to luxury lodges, which provide bush walks, night tours and off-road game drives. The landscape of the reserve is equally varied, comprising large areas of dry Savannah and grasslands, and vast wetlands and lagoons. Despite its remote location, traveling between lodges is relatively easy via helicopter and light aircraft transfers, with most lodges providing their own airstrips which they also use for helicopter game-viewing flights.

On safari in Moremi Game Reserve, whether from a 4x4 or looking down from the skies, you can expect to spot all the Big Five, as well as zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, baboons, monkeys, hippos, hyenas, crocodiles, warthogs and endangered African wild dogs. It's also a fabulous birding destination for woodland and water birds, with African fish eagles, slaty egret, green-winged pytilias, and sacred ibis all spotted here. If you fancy a change from the 4x4, there are well-maintained trails to explore, or you could hop on to a mokoro, a dug-out canoe, accompanied by an experienced personal guide to explore the waterways of the Okavango Delta.

With its incredible wildlife, unique ecosystems and remote location, the Moremi Game Reserve offers a magical and unforgettable safari experience.
