Highlights

  • River-style swimming pool
  • On-site Khmer theatre

Between the city of Siem Reap and the Angkor Temples is the oasis of Angkor Village Resort. Set in an abundance of tropical gardens, this is a place that won’t let you forget you’re in Cambodia.

The guestrooms are decorated in a Khmer style with traditional dark furniture accented with bright and colourful soft furnishings and Asian artwork. But it’s very much a case of traditional-meets-contemporary at Angkor Village. The spacious rooms have all the modern amenities you may crave, like flat screen TVs and luxury bathrooms.

The swimming pool is a major feature of the resort, winding 250 metres around the grounds like a river. Many guestrooms have direct access to the pool, with the large and comfy poolside daybeds proving especially inviting.

We particularly like the on-site air-conditioned theatre. It brings ancient Khmer culture to life on its stage, while spectators enjoy a feast of Cambodian cuisine. But the theatre isn’t the only dining option available. The semi-open-air restaurants of Aaraama and Le Jardin serve up delectable menus of Khmer, Lao, Thai and Vietnamese dishes.
