Vacations to Chile

Stretching over a thin strip of South America, Chile is a country full of stark contrasts. You'll find the snow-covered peaks of the Altiplano, the sweltering Atacama desert (the driest in the world) and granite pillars in Torres del Paine (our favourite place in Chile).

  • Get off the beaten track - hike, stargaze and learn to cook classic Chilean dishes on a trip across Patagonia

  • Visit the geysers of the Atacama Desert, the driest, non-polar desert in the world with clear, unpolluted skies that are perfect for stargazing

  • Visit Chiloe Island to explore the rich culture and diverse nature, including a unique penguin colony and pink flamingos.

Places to go in Chile

Exploring the Atacama Desert is a must; a desert that resembles Mars so much that it's used to simulate Mars rovers. Go to San Pedro, the main town and see Chile's largest salt flat - the spectacle of the bright pink flamingos set against the pearl white saltscape is simply beautiful.

If you like road tripping, you can drive around the Chilean Lake District on your own, exploring farmlands, forests, volcanoes and sheer clear lakes. For wine buffs, there's plenty of vineyards and wineries for to visit in the Casablanca Valley, renowned for its sauvignon blanc and chardonnay varieties. Santiago, the country's capital, is bursting with buzzing bars and restaurants, and historic buildings for architecture aficionados to admire, while the coastal town of Valparaíso is packed with galleries and street art that compete with the stunning views found at every corner.

Discover the dramatic natural beauty of the remote Torres del Paine National Park. Whether you explore on two feet, two wheels or horse, the huge glaciers, towering snowy mountains and shimmering blue lakes you encounter are sure to take your breath away. Off the coast, mysterious Easter Island will draw you in with tales from the Rapa Nui people who have inhabited this far-flung island for thousands of years.
